About Me:
After graduating from HHS I attended Auburn University (War Eagle!), got my degree in elementary education and married my husband of 37 years, Roger "Corky" Nelson. We have two sons, Matt and Brad; a daughter-in-law, Candi; and a grandson, Eli. Since I couldn't get enough "school" I decided to get my M.A. and Ed.S. from UAB (Go Blazers!), then my M.L.I.S. and Ed.D from The University of Alabama (I can't say Roll Tide out loud, but I do support them when it doesn't affect Auburn, and I do admire the University's educational programs.)

Although I have retired from public school after 37 years as an educator with Jefferson County at Hueytown Middle and Hueytown Elementary Schools, I am currently an adjunct professor at The University of Alabama teaching graduate students in the field of school library media, and an instructor/facilitator for online courses for teachers for the Alabama Department of Education.

Babysitting my new grandson, travel, hiking, going to college athletic events, music, reading, and watching old movies are some of my favorite things to do. Collecting old records and DVDs of vintage movies take up some of my time and much of the room at my house. When we are not at football or basketball games, my husband and I really like to hike the trails out West and in the Smoky Mountains.

Hey Sue...we get back to Hueytown from time to time....not nearly often enough. Hope your family is well. Ben and his wife are expecting their first baby in September...a little girl, and we are so excited. Good to see you and keep in touch.

Thank you Mrs. Nelson, I appreciate that :-) I definately plan to practice in Birmingham. It's going to be SO COOL when Brad is filling some of the prescriptions that I've written. Nickie Lawson and I were just talking about Miss Oakley. Please be sure to tell both her and Mrs. Beasley I said "hello" and "thank you" to ALL of you for the part that you played in my education.
