Graduated in 1966 so yes, that makes me close to old! Not quite there yet. Married Tommy Fairburn while still in school. While married to him, lived up and down the east coast including Charleston, SC, New London, CT, and Brunswick, GA. Divorced in 1976 and moved back to Alabama. Met Larry Barr in 1991 and married in 1992. We now live in Pleasant Grove. Neither of us have any children. Our "child is a black cat named Clawd but we call him Buster. He rules our house. I work at Birmingham-Southern College in the Communicaitons/College Events department and kind of am counting the years to retirement. I count this my phase-out time. I worked for almost 24 years as a purchasing agent in a high-pressure, stressful job and don't want to go back there. Larry is manager of Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home (not the cemetery).
I have never felt my problems were greater than any one else and the story was just to put a face on people, especially those who are suppose to be in their golden years, that this economy has touched. Sure I went to the football game on my son's dime and I always try to enjoy myself. God tells us of the benefits of joy. We are looking at the positives that was what the story was focusing on. And btw the news contacted me after I wrote an editorial about wanting to work not rely on SS or any other handout. If I was younger I would be much more marketable as far as employment also when you are older your health issues become a problem for self insured employers. I resent the fact that you think I have plced myself above anyone. I have worked hard for 45 years and just wanted to be able to enjoy my old age. I will survive and I will thank God for his blessings but some people may not feel I deserve a break until I am living in a cardboard box under the interstate.
Sandi.......glad to hear from you.......hope you two are doing well.........keep in touch........maybe we can have a mini reunion with some of our close friends one day......keep in touch........sincerely........Robert
Hey! What are your inlaws names? I've lived here for 17 years, so I might know them. Good to hear from you. Debbie tells me I wouldn't really see people if I was living there, but still a Target catch up is better than none!!
Thanks for writing!
I was married for twelve years to my first wife .Stayed single until 2002 when I married Diane.Everyone calls her my trophy wife because she is 12 years younger and gorgeous. Its not always a bad thing when marriage fails the first time.
It's so good to hear from you! I have been doing facebook and Marcia Jones suggested I do this also. How are you? Did you hear about Linda Summerlin Addington dying? I haven't seen her in years, but just knowing she's not there is bad. I'm sure that bright smile is smiling at God right now though!
I am fine and yes I remember you. I am well working at Mustang Engineering in Homewood. Back to designing pipelines. The whole family is good Justin is 13 now. What's new with you?
