Well, where to start. After High School I attended the University of Montevallo and then UAB until the money and passion ran out. I was working in the nightclub business and I did a stint as a DJ on the cruise ships. After I decided to 'grow up' I went to work in various industries (Insurance, Soft Goods Retail Management, Retail Buying) but all the while I was always the guy that everyone called to fix their computer. In 1996 I decided that I wanted to go into a career involving computers and I joined Compass Bank and I've been there ever since. In 2000 I met the love of my life and we got married in 2002. We have a wonderful life together. She is a cradle Catholic and because of her inviting me to church with her back on Christmas Eve 2000, I found what I had been searching for ever since I had left Vineland Park Baptist Church so many years ago. I became Catholic (in fact my very first RCIA class was on Sept 11, 2001.) It was a very emotional evening for the whole class to say the least.
My wife's name is Tree (no there were no microbusses or Hippy lifestyles in her parents) It's just a family nickname that's short for Theresa. She is the Public Relations Director for the Birmingham Area Salvation Army as well as the Public Information Officer for the whole state of Alabama in the event of a disaster. She spent weeks in the field after both Hurricane Katrina and then again this year with the storms we had. We have 4 great dogs that have a completely spoiled pack existence. But then on Nov 6th of this year, we were blessed with the best thing that could ever happen to anyone. Isabella Marie came to live with us after being born on Oct 20th. At long last I feel that it's all come full circle. Life truly is great. We live in the Valleydale area (in Wine Ridge if anyone knows where that is) in a house that we just finished remodeling that is directly across the street from her parents.
Hey Russ, sent you a message on Facebook and wanted you to know we met last night on the reunion and next meeting is set for Oct. 19th. Figure everything we will need, equipment, rentals, lighting, etc. I'm not familiar with all that goes along with DJing but we want you to price us, including everything we will need for the Bessemer Civic Center on August 7, 2010 from 7:00-11:00. Thanks and we'll be in touch.
Hey Russell, thanks for being my friend. I am glad to hear you and your family doing so well. Life is precious and often times short, enjoy and be on the lookout of our 30 year class reunion.
HOLY CRAP RUSS!! Where have you been??? Some of my best summer memories have you, Bobby and Rob in them!!! Isabella is beautiful....congrats. There is nothing like having a little girl. Wait until Melinda sees you are on here!!!
Hi Russell! I can't complain life is good. Wow, this is too cool. Bringing back lots of memories.... Isabella is beautiful. I'm married with 3 kids living in east Tennessee somehow. Hey do you know how to get in touch with Scott Weaver? Talk more soon.
It has been forever since I have seen you. Your daughter is beautiful. The pictures almost made me cry she is so cute. Now...all you have to do is spoil her rotten. I turned 38 right after Cassidy was born and I have been exhausted ever since but I would not have it any other way.
I love being able to see/read how everyone has been. Take care.
Hey Russ! Vineland Park / Brother Wallen ruined me from chruch for a long time but now I see things differently and I have been very blessed by of the grace of God. We NEED to get together. CLASS OF 82
