What year did you graduate?
1983
About Me:
My goal is to live at a slower pace and enjoy life!! Too many great places to see and things to do; living out of a suitcase gets old at some point..... Lots of travel since graduation in '83... I went to Guatemala as an exchange student 1 week after graduation instead of P.C.... that kind of set the pace for the next 25 years. Undergrad at Samford and in France, grad school at UA and in Spain. I was married the 1st time to a Brazilian in 1989, the same year I started law school at UM in Miami. I worked in Brazil, then in private law practice and later in economic development, mainly international. So far, I've visited every continent but Antartica (nothing much to do there), both for work and pleasure.

Being home with my family is my first priority now.

I never stopped playing music, but for the last 20 years, it's been Cajun/South Louisiana music, and fiddle and accordion rather than guitar... the band is CHANK-AY-RIE... yep, the only Cajun French band around here, that's for sure.

There's another HHS grad and phenomenal musician, Wade Sexton ('82) is in that band with me. We play lots of festivals, private gigs, dances, etc.

I've spent a lot of time in SW Louisiana and in partiular, in the Lafayette area (Cajun country). I still work a lot there (economic development consulting and legal) and I have a tourism-related business on the Atchafalaya Basin (www.McGeesLanding.com).

My other passion is sailing. In November 08, I brought my sailboat up from Destin to the Lighthouse on the Warrior River... a total of 6.5 days, over 500 miles, and lots of fun. Tim Salter was first mate on the first leg and Roger Kirtley on the 2nd, so my HHS buddies were crew.

I'm based in Birmingham, currently in private law practice, as well as continuing economic development consulting. Since 1996, I've also been involved in soccer, working for FIFA at the past 3 World Cups and at least another event every year. I'm a Media Officer for FIFA, which is too much to explain here, but suffice it to say that it is incredible experience, and I consider myself fortunate to participate.

My best work ever are my two wonderful daughters (Maribel born 3/06. and Celia born 11/07). My wife, Wendy. is also wonderful. At my age, little children are fatiguing, but fun, nevertheless. I'm not supposed to be changing diapers at 43...

It's great now to be in touch with so many old friends from HHS.

Hey, Mikie Boy does time fly...seems like yesterday it was Feb....Your daughters are beautiful!! I don't get on here very often but thought I would try to catch up a little. I'm still flying Salvador de Bahia, Brazil mostly. And a little of the Carribean. Trying to get my husband to get a Brazilian visa so he can go with me sometime. It's so relaxing down there. Somebody has to stay with the kids, I guess. lol

Beautiful pictures of the girls. I agree with you "About Me" line where you admit that they are the best thing you've ever done. They are just adorable. Give them kisses from me!!

Our family is praying for your sweet mother and your whole family. When daddy was so sick your mother was like another mother to Kristi (my little sister) and to all of us. May HE wrap you all with HIS strength!

Love to pose the question: "how many of you (girls) remeber Mikie in those black (leather and/or parachute) pants circa 1982/83?
And we've discussed this, but you are old, I was on that trip w/Oak Grove school, you w/Hueytown. We met several times in Mexico-spoke Spanish to one another stupid me thought you were from Mexico...until I go to armory and see you performing on stage. Boy was my face red! go all that way to Mexico, to find you in my backyard! I later transferred to Hueytown (your SR year) and we had a good laugh about it. Hope to see you soon. I'm at Verand now, more on that later. love to see you guys perform, hi to Wade (once dated his brother)
