Well Melinda. It seems the concept of your forum was a great idea. What happened to the execution? Or has it become separate forums within a forum?

With the mines itself being now closed, and the only thing being done there is the operation of the scrubber (if still active at this point), there is little word about any environmental clean up efforts for the lake. People around here are still de…

It can be accessed from 15th Street Road via the conveyor belt. You can also access from the off Dogwood Lane after you bear to the right at the Y intersection and go to the end of the road to the circle drive (which is private property now though)…

About Me:
Graduated from HHS in 1977; was one of the 'regular' types roaming around the halls versus being 'popular'. An interesting thing though about being a 'regular' type....I knew every student, teacher, office worker and custodian by name, and could greet each by name....how many 'populars' can lay claim to that bit of trivia?

Worked at Brooks Hardware in Bessemer til leaving for the Army in October that year. Spent a bit over nine years going where "Uncle" sent me, only to return home after my wife "suggested" that would be in my best interest...yea right. Have been back "home" since 1987.

Attended UAB and graduated in 1994 and then in 1997 while working full time at the one place I never wanted to go while in HHS, but which my Father regularly stated that I would go if I didn't get my act together....and I've been there, being incarcerated 5 days a week for 8 hours each day for the past 19+ years.....the only good thing is: never having to see my own children come through those doors wearing those pleasant silver bracelets that are so popular with the Punk and Goth crowd....and some who are into other things which can't be mentioned in this forum....and you know who you are too.

For those who wish to know: nope, not married either simply because she choose not to be married...at least that is what she told the judge...honest. And no, this tidbit wasn't offered as way to seek companionship, just an update of my non-marital status for those inquiring minds who just have to know....and if you're interested in meeting me for dinner one night just e-mail me at madabbs@bellsouth.net and insert the following into the subject line: Dinner meeting e-mail...that should cover that issue. *grins*

As a Father myself: I have two sons: Jesse (27) and Matthew (21) who are grown, and three grandchildren from Jesse: Jacob (9), Hunter(8) and Abbagail (5). Jacob lives here in Hueytown with his Mom, and Hunter and Abbagail live in Homewood with their Mom. All three are great kids, shy kids, well behaved kids.....now if only I can convince their respective Mothers of this fable.

If you want to know anything else just ask; those of you who know me know I'll tell.....just won't kiss and tell....didn't in HHS, still won't today....and some people think they knew me then. *chuckles* Right.

Hi Mark
Thanks for the comment:) We lived on the other side of the fork left at the bottom of the hill. Those were the days and we thought we were being bad. OMG I think we were Saints in comparison to SOME of todays kids. Take care; love your info....you're a very honest guy.

Hey Mark! Time has flown, has it not??? Thanks for your service to our country! I haven't been down to Rock Creek Church in several years, but I'm always glad to see Mike and Pam when I visit there. You should drop in on the place. Glad to know you are doing WELL!

Hey Mark...so I'm about 6 months late on logging in. Had computer problems (getting it away from my son). Anyway, great to hear from you. Yep the "Mayor" is still hanging out here in the "Dell" keeping an eye on things. Picture? I don't think so. Thirty years is a long time. Yep...I missed the Reunions but going to the new Walmart is just like a reunion. I see that you are a grand papa! congrat! For me, my daughter (23) has been married going on two years and they are still enjoying not being tied down. She married David Dunn from Hueytown and I couldn't have picked a better guy for her. My son (18) is going to Oak Grove this year. I'm really lucky to have great kids. As for me, still working and will as long as they will keep me. Well....great hearing from you. Sorry it took so long to get back. Maybe I'll see you around Paynes or Walmart!!!!! Take Care!
