About Me:
Lee Crocker AKA "Free Bird"

I am still recognizable as the person you might have known in High School... BARELY! Add 50+ pounds AND a LOT of gray hair and you've got pretty much what I look like today. {sigh} Oh if there's one thing I've learned in the last 30 or 40 years, it's that things could be worse!

ANYWAY.....

I'm living back in Hueytown with my long-time partner & my mom (Linda) turned me on to this little network. What can I say? These days, I'm just hangin' out, trying to survive & sneak in a good time every now and then. Currently I'm working in the Marketing Group for a local Research company - doing print & graphics work with a healthy dose of administrative duties thrown in to keep me busy.

I've never "defined myself by my job", but.... to give you an idea what I've been up to over the years, I've worked as:
a lounge singer
rock-n-roll singer
singing telegram performer
audio duplication tech
waitress
maid
optical technician
shipper/receiver
office administrator
sign-shop artist-laborer
video store clerk
internet suppport tech
printer and graphic artist

I'm no longer immortal, of course. Too many years of Kamikaze Gymnastics and Dance took a heavy toll. Arthritis was inevitable, really. Now I move like an 85-year-old when I get up in the morning. Ugh.

Hey - I figured I'd be dead by now anyway!!!
After 30, it's all just a bonus, right?

Speaking of death... (how's that for a segueway ?) I've cheated it a few times. Over the years I was involved in a couple of industrial accidents - one of which involved my having to jump out a 25-foot high window TO ESCAPE A BURNING BUILDING! I didn't want to jump out a three story window, but as Richard Pryor once said: "Fire is inspirational" LOL

I have managed to sneak in a lot of good times and enjoy doing the occasional medieval festival, pagan nature festivals and such. My serious hiking days are pretty much over, but I can still be found walking at the track almost daily. Still love NASCAR! Tony Stewart ROCKS - WooHoo.

Kids = ZERO!
Cats = 4 (Shoulda gotten 'mommie' fixed sooner!)
Husbands = 2 ... but not at the same time!
Boyfriends = only 1 or 2 at a time these days - I'm slowing down in my old age. ha ha ha ha....

Hobbies:
authority-questioning
disturbing the peace
trash-talkin'
music & arts of all kinds
camping & nature excursions
creative writing

So... maybe you can tell by this little re-introduction that I'm mostly the same ol' girl I used to be - just more of her!

Some of you may have been acquainted with my father, DAVID LEE CROCKER also. He used to have very popular parties when we lived across the street from the swimming pool :) After 9 years of struggling with health problems associated with being quadriplegic, (due to a rare immunological disorder known as Guillian-Barre Syndrome) he died on September 9, 2008. Rest in Peace "Dr. Dave"! Now you are free. I know many of our friends will remember him fondly. I've set him up a 'memorial' page on here - so anybody who comes looking for him will know to look beyond our realm.

My mom, LINDA CLARK MYERS is still doing pretty well! You can find her on this network - and ever-so-fortunately - among my friends!

But enough about me & my clan….
Tell me what YOU’VE been up to!
- Lee

ha ha ha..... Yeah, gotta be careful what you say and do these days. Everybody's carrying camera phones and such... too easy to leave "evidence" LOL Remember to put your best side forward. ha ha

Hi Lee,

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on my latest rantings. And yes, you want to listen to those stories while you can. Don't, however, do what my daughter did to me right after my heart attack... I took her fishing, and she asked me to tell her the story about getting caught in a creek in waist-deep water with an angry 4-foot cottonmouth. I obliged, only to discover about halfway through that she was holding a camera and recording me! She figured since I'd already died once, she'd better act. I, of course, demanded royalties...
