I still live in Hueytown. I am retired from JEFCOED. I worked for them for 25 years as a library aide. I have 3 children and 8 granchildren. I married Larry Knowles. We had been married for 45 years when he passed away last January. I have kept busy with my Grandchildren. I graduated in 1961 as Janice Gullahorn.
School is fine, I am ready for the new building to be built! It is a little cramped right now, but I know it will be worth it in the long run! I bet you are busy with the grandkids! Michelle, my friend has been very happy at Northhighlands! You would have loved working with her, she is a hoot! Take Care! Love you, Cheryl
I knew they would do good. Heather has been debating since she was little so that is no surprise. My family is doing fine. Mom and Mrs. Crane just getting older and the problems that come with that. Benny's sister committed suicide in January and the kids and I have had quite a time with that. She and I were still good friends and I had talked to her about a week before. Keep in touch.
You are so sweet. Oh. . . those North Highland days. They were great. I pass you almost every morning going down Virginia Drive. Good to talk to you. Love ya.
Hello Janice, Yep, I let her talk me into it and I can't believe how many people are doing this. I don't type so good so I am slow about this still. Love you, Jody
Hi Janice,
This was a nice surprise. Just on a whim I put something on this site and like you I haven't seen any of our guys. By working on the reunions (it is time for one and don't believe you have ever been..it's so much fun)I stay in touch with several of our classmates so I sent this site to them. I did run into Joyce Guin when I was in Hueytown one Sunday at Publix. We had a nic elong chat. I'm still working for Metropolitan Development Board (30 yrs.) and may never get to retire. My dad died 3 years ago and mom is almost 86 and is in the first stages of alzheimers. I go to Hueytown every weekend (live in Homewood). Speedy has had some problems in the last 3 years some of it critical illness but is doing really well now. He works for Waldrop Electric in Bessemer and has an apt in Bess., but stays with mom a lot at night. I have one son Stephen who is now living and working in Panama City (nice place to visit) not married and I have no grandchildren. My sister Linda is still in Plano, Texas and she lost Jimmy last May to cancer which was devasting to our family. I see this has happened to you too..so sorry. My baby sister Kim and her family were away from Birmingham for 18 years but relocated back here last July. I was very glad to have a sister at home. They live in the Greystone area. She has 3 boys. I guess I've given you more info than you would ever want. The last 4-5 yrs. have been pretty stressful with family illnesses and issues as I'm sure we all have at some time or another. I'm pretty boring but love going to movies..that's my escape from reality and I like working out at the gym when time permits. Of course I'm a beach person PC. Big American Idol fan..Taylor Hicks. I want to do a reunion but now I'm thinking should we wait til the 50th..how did we get here so fast? Great to hear from you. If you see anyone tell them to email me.
Ms. Knowles--so good to hear from you. So MANY good memories from Hueytown COC w/ Karen and Becky, the spend the night parties, etc. I know we kept all of our parents running. I am surprised my mother hasn't gotten on here yet. I told her about it today and she said she was going to look at it. Are you lovin' having the time to keep all of those grandbabies? I know my mother would lurve it! xoxoxo Holly
Good to hear from you. Congratulations on retirement. Where does Cathy live now? I haven't see her in a while. I bet the twins keep her busy. You said the you had been married 45 years- wow! I bet you had to adapt a lot when he passed away. Ya'll had been together so long. I glad you have wonderful children to be with and I know they really appreciate you and helping with grandkids. Again keep in touch.
