About Me:
Alright.....deep breath....here we go!!! Since high school, what travels I've taken myself on. Only the grace of God has kept to this point of typing to you guys! Enrolled in the Army (WHAT THE HECK!!) and got through basic in Ft. Dix and music school in Virginia. After my time was done (which went by rather quick) I then enrolled in Alabama State University in Montgomery where I met my present wife. I played marching (OH MY GOD! from corps style to "poppin 90's"- culture shock!...really) concert, jazz and studio bands! One year there I decided that I wanted to get away (with some help from the parents - haha!) and went to Boston for a year (90-91). Did you know it snowed in October and snowed on my birthday in March? Did you know they still go to work when it snows? After experiencing my first gospel concert, it was then where a music pursuit began to grow. After the one year there I moved back home (unsuspecting to my folks-whoa!) I then enrolled at UAB (92) where I met my cousin, Grammy, and Stellar Award winning arranger, Dr. Henry Panion, (who knew?) who was working with Stevie Wonder at the time. I was then married in 1993 to my first wife and it was during that time that I was brought on board (94) to work on Stevie Wonder's "Natural Wonder" Tour. I traveled to Israel, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan and Brazil! If you pick that album up, I'm a credited as "orchestra librarian" (got paid....well!) It was on that tour that I had the opportunity to play "Ribbon in the Sky" with Stevie in Seoul, South Korea and Sao Paulo, Brazil!!! For those who went to the Stevie concert here in Birmingham, that was me playing the sax with another horn player from Birmingham!!! Also played in my first band, did three years together...disbanded. Divorced in 1998, I had the pleasure of working with Stevie on many other occasions. In 1999, during my "relational transition" period, I met a young lady and we had a beautiful daughter together, Jalynn Marie, turning 10 as of this writing - got to get the gray out!! It didn't work for us so in 2000, I relocated to Pell City working with my parents with a special needs children's ministry and I was soon reacquainted with my love from college, Claudia (I now have a older son Andrew, 22 years old) and by 2001, married with our first bundle on the way (2002), that's Francesca DeNae, 7 as of this past July. During this time me and four guys formed a band called "OverFloe" Recorded our first CD in 2002, opened for some major gospel artists, traveled a good bit, even had a song place #3 on a gospel internet radio station!!. Oh yeah, 16 months (2003) later, Frederick DeLon II was born, turning 6 soon!! Even got pledged into a professional music fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Pi Theta Chapter, UAB - pledged by fellow frat brother, Ruben Studdard - OOOOWWWWW! Musically, I have worked on two "Gospel Goes Classical" recordings here in Birmingham with Dr. Panion, I have performed in Carnegie Hall in New York, auditioned for Kenny Chesney, performed with Ruben Studdard, my band has signed to a label, our first CD in being released in late Sept/early Oct, our first single "Rock Of My Salvation" is available worldwide on iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazonmp3, Napster and eMusic and if things go well, we will be signed to a distribution deal on Sony/BMG/Verity Records!! So there it is; playing sax 30 years, out of high school 21 years, married 7 years, 5 countries, 4 kids, 2 bands, 2 CD's - whew!! And I take my school with me...really I do!! Any and all of ya'll, lets keep in touch, call me at 2056415048! To the classes of 86-90, you are the best! Hit me up here or my facebook page or my band at myspace.com/overfloe, iseecolor.com/overfloe jazz, facebook.com/overfloejazz or reverbnation.com/overfloe. Miss u guyz!!!

Hi Delon!!
I'm so glad you posted to my Ning page. I sincerely apologize for not posting back sooner. I've been tied up with renovating a home for over a year and haven't been active on this site for such a long time. So I sort of missed your post.

Congratulations on your great career in music. I knew that if anyone I went to school with would become a true professional musician it would have to be you. Your were always the best sax player I knew.

Your band sounds great. Please keep us posted on your success.

Yeah... still playing the skins... Ive played more in the last 5 years than I did in the previous 10... but Im digging the stuff Ive been doing recently. Were still working hard on this stuff though and hope to release a full album, which we may shop around as a score for a movie, or who knows what. Right now its just instrumental... and still in its infancy... but man the early signs are SOLID as a rock! I got your number in my phone, so I will def call you soon. We may need some of your saxiness on a few tracks, so keep your ears on! later!
