About Me:
Living out my dreams in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Lovin' my brand new baby girl.
Loving my beautiful wife who I now see as a super hero after watching her deliver our baby girl au natural.
Working as an arborist, landscaper, lawn boy, gardener, and general roustabout
If it's green I plant it, prune it, climb it, touch it, feed it, grow it, and love it.
I honestly believe that I have the coolest job that I could have ever dreamnt up for myself. I have my own company which means that I went from having one boss to 20 or 30, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I've always had the warm and fuzzies for the Blue Ridge and I think I'll hang my hat here for the rest of my days.

Claire's Day part V

OK, I hope you all are still with me on this one. It's amazing how one little girl can cut into your writing time. So, where was I...

After Dr. Keever left Sonya knew she was on her proving ground. If she was going through with the natural childbirth plan she was now approaching the point of no return. In true form though she didn't flinch. I continued massage as the contractions got stronger. I tried to lure Sonya down peaceful mental streets, ever knowing there was probably a ten car pile up… Continue

As Sonya is sitting on the birthing ball Dr. Keever comes in to introduce herself. “Hi!” she said in a voice that was just a touch too bright and chipper for the moment, “I’m Dr. Keever and I’ll be assisting in your birth today. So how’s everyone feeling today?” “Very pregnant,” Sonya responded unamused. “ Well, I know you all were hoping for a midwife so I’m going to do my best to make this experience as “midwifey” as possible,” she said with a seemingly inexhaustible smile. She looked like she… Continue

Claire's Day III

Now at this point I turned my phone off. I had told myself that this would be best as we would need every iota of ourselves to make this thing work (and, left to my own devices I would probably have Sonya in one hand and about 3 or 4 different calls on the other. I could see myself saying,”Push Sonya, push!” out of one side of my mouth, and “We’re gonna need to get that brush cleaned up by Monday at the latest, oh did you get that e-mail I sent you?” out of the other). No, we had to be in the mo… Continue

Claire's Day part II

This part's a bit shorter. Claire told me I have to draw it out for ya'll :) Fo

By the time we got back up to our room I noticed through the window that the sky had gone fluffy gray and the first flakes of snow were beginning to fall. It’s good that we got back because I don’t know if I could have handled Sonya in labor, out in the streets, in the snow. It might have been overbearing. At this point, I knew I was supposed to be making some calls (there was a short list for the parents and dogs… Continue

Claire's Day

March 8, 2008
Sonya woke me with a cup of coffee around 5:45 AM. “Fo, wake up. It’s time,” she said. She had been having some significant contractions the night before but didn’t make a big deal of them. I knew we were at the point when the baby could come at anytime, but I guess it just doesn’t hit home until, “Holy crap! It’s time!!”
Sonya had been having undistractible contractions since about 4:00am. Up until this point, she had planned to bake a birthday cake for the baby when she knew that… Continue

Hey Fo. What's up buddy? Congratulations on your little girl, she's beautiful. Are you still in NC? I am working in Atlanta and getting ready to move back to Bham soon. Abbey King and I have been dating for about 3 years now and I need to move closer to her and my family. Daniel has 2 girls, Melia and Bella, and they love their uncle Kebo. Let me know what's up with Canty IV.

Fo, I have loved reading about Claire's birth!! As a labor nurse, I can appreciate a lot of what you talked about-the primal yaps(haha)! You should publish these for her. My husband writes a journal to our two sons every day and will give them a copy in book form when they grow up. You should do the same-I'm sure it would be entertaining to say the least coming from you! I know you will be a great Daddy and it makes me miss Kyle b/c I know he would have been too! Take care and please keep writing so we can see how Claire is growing!
