About Me:
Class of 1974
Life
Married David Gordon Willis in March '80 and lived in Homewood until '83 when we moved to Indian Springs. Sadly, we divorced 20 years later, no children. I learned over the past summer of '07 that he died of esophageal cancer. Met my knight in shining armor and future husband, Joe Degnan, who whisked me to places all over the world and relocated me to West Chester, PA. We married September 2, '05 and are happily settled in our new home and new life together.
School
Hueytown Elementary thru High School
College
Birmingham Southern Conservatory of Music, studied under Hugh Thomas and Christopher Sager while attending high school.
Graduated with a certificate from Carraway Methodist Medical Center, School of Radiologic Technology.
Graduated with a Master's in Allied Health Sciences/Education, UAB.
Workplace
My most recent position was with Best Doctors, headquartered in Boston, working remotely from my office at home. Physicians from Harvard medically managed people who sustained catastrophic injuries on-the-job. I began my career working at age 15 teaching beginning piano students. During high school, I also worked as a hostess at a large hotel restaurant. After college, I began my medical career as a radiologic technologist and eventually specialized in mammography, which led me into medical sales and marketing for several years thereafter. My last jobs in Alabama were at at HealthSouth and United Healthcare of AL in network development and contracting. In Dec. 2000, I moved to West Chester, PA and began a new life. Once settled, I worked for Northwestern Human Services, a non-profit behavioral health company credentialing practitioners, and then I worked in contracting for SunGard, a worldwide company HQ in Wayne, PA that specializes in among other things recovering computer data upon declaration of disasters. Joe, my husband, has shown me the country and the world, to places I never imagined I could ever see: NYC, Boston, San Diego, Coronado, San Francisco and the Monterrey Peninsula, Chicago, Philadelphia, London, Paris and most recently New Zealand. My proudest life accomplishment is influencing the Alabama legislature, while working with HealthSouth and volunteering with the Humane Society of Shelby County, to pass the law that makes certain cruelties to animals felonies rather than misdemeanors.

"It doesn't matter where you bury me after I'm dead and gone. Just pile a sinkload of dirty dishes on top of my grave and I'll feel right at home". Quote from my paternal grandmother.

Hey Debbie
I will have to look at my old yearbooks and see if I can find the picture you mention. Or....maybe I even have a copy in an old photo album from our high school days. If I find it. I'll let you know. Have a great weekend!

Hi Deborah, yes, you're right. That was me. I took lessons from your mother for several years. I have alot of fond memories of piano lessons with her. She was always patient and sweet.

OK I listened to them. Jobim i liked. I had never heard of him. I didnt like the one by Quincy. I have never liked Cut the Cake but I love AWB's original version of Let's Go Round Again. Somehow the original is not on you tube. So Very Hard To Go, one of my all time favorites. Great song. I also like You're Still a Young Man by them. Another song from around that same time (1973) I like is Bloodstone's Natural High. www.youtube.com/watch?v=23FVR7M9SoY Here is the address for that song by The Meeting "And I Think About You All The Time" www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:3xfixqwgldde Also I like Tango on that cd.

Hey Debbie, I listened to the songs. I liked Tony and kd's best. The other one had just just a little bit too much funk for me. But I did like the sax part. I love hearing a good sax. If you get time I want you to check out a song if you are not familiar with it. It is by The Meeting and called And I Think About it All The Time. You can find info on them on wikipedia and a sound clip on www.allmusic.com. I've put togethet several cd's the last few years such as my favorite songs from each summer from 1966-1974, my favorite instrumental songs, fav soul and r&b songs, favorite obscure singles, favorite jazz tunes, and favorite singles from this decade. That last one was tough since I'm not big on current music. I have thought of putting a cd together of songs that has a strong sax somewhere in it. Doubt if I will ever get around to it.

You are right about Bob and Kris. They were neighbors of half block away but we are not related. I have also wondered about Kris's brother,Merrill, he was year older than me. I have old film of him hitting home run in Dixie Youth World Series in 63. Bet he would love to see.
