I am from the class of 1976, the Bicentennial class. I got my BS in Music Ed at The University of Alabama in 1980 and my Masters in Music Ed at Florida State University in 1985. I am a Music Pastor at Ponchatoula First Baptist Church. I have been in ministry for 20 years serving at churches in Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina and Louisiana. Prior to that I was the Director of Bands at Bragg Middle School in Gardendale, AL for 15 years and Associate Director of Bands at Gardendale High School. During those years at Bragg I was the Instrumental Music Director at Gardendale's First Baptist Church. I have been married to Paula Bentley Vickers since 1986 and we have 2 children: Whitney (born - 1989) and Colton (born - 1993).
I am an avid cyclist riding about 200 miles per month. I like to ride in the MS Tour for Cure which is a benefit ride for Multiple Sclerosis. If you would like to make a donation to support this benefit ride to help find the cure for MS, please email me at cvickers@fbcponchtoula.com. I also love to grill out most anything. If you want to be totally spoiled with the best food in the world, move to Louisiana. We love to go to the beach for vacation.
Paula has gone back to school at Southeastern Louisiana University (SELU) to get her Bachelor's degree in Music Education. She will graduate in May of 2009.
