About Me:
I graduated from HHS in the Class of 1977. I have been married to Jim since 1985 and we have two wonderful children. Daniel graduated from HHS in 2005 and is a Junior at the University of Alabama majoring in Social Work. He also played baseball at HHS. Lauren is 18 years old and is a senior at HHS, and is a member of the Hueytown High School Softball Team - 2008 6A State Champions!!! On January 21, she signed a letter of intent to play softball at Northwest Florida State College - formerly Okaloosa-Walton Community College in Niceville, Florida. She received a full ride except for housing. We are really excited and sad at the same time. Having college paid for is WONDERFUL, but 260 miles is a long way from home!! I retired from the Jefferson County Health Department with 25 years service in February of 2003, and have worked for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department in Bessemer since the day after I retired.

We do attend there. It was recommended by some neighbors when we moved over here and they had such a great kids program that I never tried anywhere else. There is always something going on and ways to volunteer and be active no matter what age. I was a little worried about it not being a Baptist church at first but honestly I can't tell a difference between the the 2 ministries. I hope Lauren decides to give it a try. There are a lot of services to choose from on Sunday. It might remind her of PRBC as much as it does me!!

Hi Barbara, Glad to hear you got Lauren moved safe and sound! She definately needs to come try 1st United Meth. Church. It's on the main road not too far from her. I know they offer classes and fellowship opportunities for the college kids. I don't know any of the college kids but know some of the high school kids so I will try to get some specific info for you on something she might could try to meet people. They have a really nice life center & Wed nite supper! The supper takes walkups and your 1st supper is free. Maybe a teammate would want to try it with her. The website is http://fumcniceville.org/ Hope you are adjusting ok with her gone! If she ever needs anything, please tell her not to hesitate to call me!!!!! Keep in touch and I'm going to check out the softball schedule!!

Hi Barbara, thanks so much for your message. You must be so proud of your daughter! I'm sure it is bittersweet for you that she is away. Meantime, it's great to know that Jimmy Fleming is still around. I have wondered for years whatever happened to him. It was great to come home for the 35th reunion recently. We had such a good time. While Joe is at his annual golf outing in Myrtle Beach with his fraternity brothers, I'm taking my parents for a ride up the coast to Martha's Vineyard. We're renting a van so we can take Mama's scooter. We've never seen that part of the country so we're really looking forward to it. We leave tomorrow. I will tell her you said hello. How is your husband doing? Has he fully recovered?

Oh, Barbara, thank you sooo much. I didn't realize your b'day was in March. Happy Belated 50th to you, too. Can you believe we are really 50??? It's hard to imagine. My brain says I'm young and my body says I'm 150 some days. LOL!! Thanks so much for the b'day wishes. Tell Jacki I said hello and happy belated to her also. Thanks again.

Hi Barbara,

I heard from Cheryl Flemming that Wayne Sexton was not doing well. Ginni and I have been remembering him in prayer. I am wondering if he has improved. If you see Linda and/or Wayne please pass along my well wishes.

Hey Barbara, mom says tell you hello. She is living in Bessemer now. She has had a tough year 1/2. Stroke, total knee, & broke femur. She is doing much better now. Up and about and driving again. Thank you for asking. Nice to hear from you.
