Hueytown High School

Not many people might know this or remember this, but I had the honor of walking down the aisle at Valley Creek Baptist Church to receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior at the same time Kyle did. I was 7 years old and Kyle was 8 years old. Our pastor was Bro. George King Sr. I still remember to this day how my life and my heart was changed as a result and I'm sure Kyle's did also. That day was our birthday as a newborn Christian that we both shared with each other. He just got to leave this world too soon, but I know God had bigger plans for Kyle because he now lives in eternity with his Heavenly Father and his earthly father. May God continue to bless his family! We will always remember Kyle and miss him dearly. Thanks Jenny for making this group in memory of Kyle.

I remember playing football with Kyle, Johnny, the Mitchell bros and others in his front yard! Kyle was such a good guy to everyone! Even though he was years younger than me................man he was big and very hard to tackle!

Jenny,
I'm so glad you added this group. I was spending the night at yours and Hope's house that night we got that terrible call. I've always add a special place in my heart for you. Not to make you sad, but I 'll never forget the whole Vanderbilt football team being at the funeral. I had to stand in the back it was so crowded. I didn't know Kyle since he was so much younger than me, but I know all you rely on remembering on all the happy times ya'll had growing up.
Love,
Cissy

Kyle was so very special to our family. When he walked into the house, you could just feel the joy bouncing off the walls. When he was just a little boy I started calling him King Kyle and when he spent the night with us, he thought he was King. He loved it. When he was playing football, he would always ask me the same question, Alice, do you think my Dad would be proud of me. He even drew a picture of his dad looking down from heaven telling him "Do a good job son." Whatever Kyle did, he gave it everything he had. One of my sweetest memories was just before he went to Vandy. Johnny called and asked if we could have a bible study "Experiencing God". It was during these nights of bible study that we got to express our love for one another and it was a wonderful send off for Kyle. Kyle called me the week he fell and said "Hey, Alice, I think it is time for another King Kyle weekend. In his short 19 years, he touched more hearts than most people do in a lifetime. We are so blessed to have Kyle in our lives. Now is is walking with the King and his Dad and looking down saying, Do your best. What precious memories we share. Love you, Alice Ann

Kyle would get a kick out of this. I sent a reply yesterday, but I could never find it. I guess it is somewhere in cyber space. I'll always remember Kyle in 1st grade Sunday school class at Valley Creek church. Usually he would be drawing some hotrod car as I taught the lesson. I'd stop the lesson, ask him a question about the story. Usually, he knew the answer. Fooled me every time. Then in big church, he sat across the isle from me. He would write, hi Curt on some paper, slip it over the outside of the pew, hoping Jan would not see him. He had the biggest grin on his face every time. He wanted to call me Curt like the teenagers did. When Jan caught him, she would pinch him, make him jump and he would giggle. When Tommy was sitting there also, I believe he encouraged Kyle to write that note to me. Jan had two to pinch then. I'm thankful Kyle was part of my life. Love to all the Gullahorn's. Curt

I am Jamey Cole Mears' (started discussion) brother. I am glad that Jenny started this remembrance group and that Jamey started this discussion to honor the life and memory of Kyle. Kyle was a few years younger than me growing up while attending Valley Creek Baptist Church, but I still remember him well. I played basketball with his brother, Johnny, at VCBC during the good ole days. Kyle was an awesome guy! I thought a lot of him growing up and was was deeply saddened when I learned of his untimely death at such a young age. I am truly thankful to know that Kyle was a devout and born again beliver in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I know he is looking down today at all of us and is thankful that he got to touch so many lives during his time here on this earth and many more as a result of his death. Kyle is truly missed and will always live on in the hearts and minds of all those he touched in his short life. God bless his dear family.

I have so many great memories of Kyle, it's hard to pick just one. From little league baseball, going to Florida with my family and Gulf Shores with his, we had so many great times. One of my most favorite memories is when we where at a Hueytown High football game. We were still in Pittman, and Kyle stood head and sholders above the rest of the crowd and I stood at everybodies waist. It was very crowded and I couldn't see anything so Kyle bent down and lifted me up on his sholders so I could see, the way he saw things up there. Man, it was a great view. But that is what Kyle did to all of us... he lifted us up, gave us a big perspective on life because everything Kyle did he put his happiness and joy in it. I will never forget the special times I had with Kyle. I get to share with my youngest son, Kyle, all the great and wonderful memories I have about big Kyle. My son thinks it is so cool to be named after such a wonderful person. I miss Kyle every single day, especially when spring comes around because that's when we would spend so much time together out at the lakes fishing, talking about girls, and laughing so hard we would almost fall out of the boat... literally. It is truly an honor to have been a friend to such a wonderful human being.

I totally agree with you. He was a wonderful human being. I always thought of him as my other brother since he spent so much time with mine. I'll never forget when he went to Florida with our family one time. We were supposed to be going somewhere but couldn't until we cleaned up our mess in the beach house. Kyle and Brannon...of course...were NOT there to help. Most of it was their mess! Anyway...I was soooooo mad at them. It was spring break and just happened to be my birthday. I found out later that Kyle and Brannon had been out looking for a hot pink Oakley decal I could put on my windshield and a purple "swishy" Oakley pullover shirt that I had seen. When I opened their gift I felt so bad for being mad at them. You could never stay mad at Kyle. He was such a big teddy bear. I am also greatful to him that he took care of my little brother. Brannon liked to think of him as his personal body guard. He was such a great friend to our family.

Brandi, Thanks for the kind words about Kyle...He thought he was so cool getting to ride places with you when you were old enough to drive him and Brannon around! Thanks for adding to this page and for loving my brother like your own. I loved Brannon like my own too!

Jen-
My favorite memory of all...riding home from the ball park in your dad's car with you, Johnny and Kyle, the horn blowing every time your dad touched the steering wheel.

Love, Carol

Kyle is one the best people that I have known in my life. I remember playing little league baseball with him & high school football & going to Wind Creek and no matter the situation Kyle was always a positive influence.
