My son, Chris, and Kyle were on their official visit together at Vanderbilt in December of 1995. Chris graduated from Homewood in 1996 and went on to play ball at Samford. We were shocked and saddened to hear about Kyle at the time. Our prayers are with your family.

Kyle was like another son to me. ;With he and Brad being such good friends he was at our home almost daily during thoise wonderful high school years. In fact it was more like the three mousteers because Josh was usually around too. They shared so much together and his lost has left a very large hole in each of our lives. Kyle always had a smile and the feeling of love and care was always around him, a great testimony to his Mom and to Kyles love of God. There will forever be a place in our home for memories of a young man who touched the lives of so many in such a positive way . Kyle I Miss YOU.

Was he related to tommy Gullahorn? I graduated in 1966.
I am sorry for your loss. I lost my best friend an mentor in November. He was 84 an I had known him all my life. He was my dad's boss at US Steel. There are no words to soften the blow.
I studied Herbs from him for over 25 years.
When I recieved the news I had been outside all day photographing the beautiful fall color trees. I don't know if I will ever develope the film.
Fall will never be the same
I am sorry.........Sincerely,
Becky Barnes

I remember the illegal bat call too.. Typical of most people who knew 'of' Kyle and didn't 'know' Kyle. I know that I'm a better person for having known him and he crosses my mind every now and again. I believe he was the 1st person I was consciously afraid of, until I got to know him of course. I had the pleasure of knowing him almost all of his life and, while we were never best friends, I could and do call him a friend.

Every now and then Kyle seems to pop into my head. I pulled into a parking lot last night and a saw an unusually large K5 blazer and thought about the time his wheel came off when he was driving his. I had the fortune of playing baseball on the same team with Kyle a coupl of years and while I wasn't all that great I remember when he drilled one over the wall at the park one night only to have the home run called back by the ump claiming he used an illegal bat. (Total bogus call by an infamous ump in H-Town) Needless to say the ump had a rough night after the game for the call. The last game of the season Kyle crushed it again and the same infamous ump was behind the plate. Needless to say the home run wasn't called back and Kyle actually high-fived the ump as he crossed the plate. Kyle just smiled from ear to ear and enjoyed the moment. There was no "I showed you, look at me, don't you look dumb", all the things a lesser person (I) would have done. For all the talent he had both physically and mentally he was very humble. He was one of my favorite people, I liked listening to his bow hunting adventures with his uncles and I hope to see him again one day.

My son, Brian Parks, and Kyle were in 4-5 yr old kindergarten together at Valley Creek Baptist Church. At least a couple of times a week, they would have "disagreements" and exchange a few blows. I was concerned and spoke to the teachers and was told that the boys were actually friends but that they were so much alike, they would have these disagreements and then were best buddies immediately afterwards. I do remember telling Brian that at least he could find someone smaller than Kyle to fight with since at the time Kyle was close to twice Brian's size. They remained church, school and baseball friends through the years. We were heartsick when we learned of Kyle's accident. Brian was playing college baseball at the time and was unable to attend the funeral or visitation. I remember the huge line at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church that night. I have always loved the Gullahorn family and that crowd was a testament to the love that everyone feels to you all.
