Being in the band was one of the highlights of my high school years (63-65). Would love to hear from members during that time.

So I never actually played an instrument, but I was a FLAG...and HEAD FLAG from 92-93. I loved being a part of the marching band. How is Mr. Blanton?

I was in the band in middle school and one year in HS. I loved to twirl and was a majorette at Pittman and as a sophemore in HS. I had to be in the band to be a mojorette. Couldn't play the flute and couldn't stand Mr. Blanton. I tolerated Mr. Hulgan, but he didn't like me very much because I couldn't play my instrument. I finally quit because being a majorette wasn't worth being in the band. I still have my batons and have taught my oldest three girls to twirl.
I have great memories of being a majorette. We were great!!

I was in the band at Hueytown Elementary in 5th and 6th grades, then all through Pittman and HHS until I graduated in 1970. I played clarinet in both marching and concert bands. It was Mr. Hulgan in Pittman, and Mr. Vickers otherwise.

Band was my life from 6th grade on... Mr. Hulgan, Mr. Bradley. Played flute. Was a flag Senior year because a group of friends said I couldn't graduate without being something. I was something alright! Stomping around in that purple velvet outfit waving that flag. Had a good time. Went to college, joined the University of Alabama Chorus and Chamber Music ensemble. Seems like I could sing too. Who knew!

I loved being in Band. I had played clarinet since 5th grade and survived the spray Mr. Hulgan at Pittman used to put on your instruments after he played them....EWWWWW!!!!! It was big fun being in band. I even played in the Million Dollar Band for a short time when I was at Bama. I have tried to get some of my neices and nephews involved but no takers. Mr. B was so funny but to be honest he really enlightened me to appreciate what we were doing on the field. We took trips to Tuscaloosa to listen to some of thier bands and he was even instrumental in me making the decision to attend there. He was a "little" uptight, but he was a very knowledgeable guy. Mr. Tucker was fun too. I remember how they both made us watch those drum and bugle corps for our marching style and we got "tics" taken off our grades when we were late to the 7am practice. Hey, it kept me in shape, running those laps......hats off to them both.

I started in the band in the sixth grade. Flute was my instrument. And then came the piccilo. I had Mr Hulgan, and then Mr Bradley. Between 75 - 80. I had a lot of fun.

I loved being in the band. I was color guard and I miss those days. I loved being on the field and performing. I have started a praise dance ministry at my church and I plan on incorporating flag into our ministry. I wouldn't trade anything for the 7am rehearsals and summers in Aug!! Those days were fun. Oh yeah, and band competitions--makings fun of mr b and getting all dressed up. The only sad part was when we would play Fairfield or Ensley...a school with a band that danced and played current music and then we would come out with Jesus Christ Superstar...we loved it but we were embarrassed and they hated it!! LOL
