Thanks. That's right...we all need encouragement to stay with it.

Doesn't it feel great to have the cash when an emergency comes up?

Matt, Congrats on doing well with Dave's plan. Having a 6 month emergency plan is great to have especially if you need it as we have recently. Once you've eliminated those nasty credit cards, it's hard to go back to them, right? Just like to keep those who are on the plan encouraged to stay with it and be successful in life.

Hello! My wife and I have been listening to Dave for about 5 years, and his plan has changed our lives. We now have no debt except for the house, and we have 5-6 months emergency fund. We are far from perfect at doing the plan correctly all the time. It's the monthly budget meetings that we have trouble having on a regular basis. It feels good to be where we're at, but we need to make sure we stick with the budget and look at it monthly. It's so nice not to deal with credit cards any more. CC companies are so slimy!

Hey Guys, just jumped on board here. Just wanted to comment on how much my life has changed by following Dave's plan. My wife and I attended a live event 5 years ago while in a big mess of debt. When you are in a bad situation, you tend to lose all hope and you are scared at times. Following Dave's plan has to be taken seriously. Don't do it half-way and expect it to work. We managed to eliminate about $70,000 in non-mortgage debt just by following the simple ABC's and 123's in his program. To this day, we still owe on the house, period. Drive a vehicle with 321,000 (and counting) miles on it like I do and you can proudly call it a "Dave Ramsey Special". My main profile picture is special because last year was the first time we took a real vacation in over 5 years we were getting out of debt. We took money from our vacation fund for 5 years and applied it to paying off debt as part of the sacrifice. Tough, but well worth it. I currently own a business with no debt- started it Dave's way and plan to keep it that way too. My wife lost her job in November "08 and it hasn't been a major crisis because of our having an emergency plan in place.

Sincerely,
Dennis Griffin

my hubby & i are livin' like no one else. we live waaay below our means & in this economy it makes all the difference in the world to be on the ramsey plan. he started on the dave ramsey plan 5 years ago & i soon jumped on board--with some nudging. we were swimming in debt! but, i realized that ramsey just plain made common sense...we've paid off both our vehicles & will never purchase a new vehicle again! after finishing his duty in the air force & losing that supplemental income, my hubby actually delivered pizzas until we paid off some credit cards. he is a route salesman on his day job & travels out of town every night, but would sale pizzas on fri, sat & sunday. he takes this thing seriously! i go to the thrift store for magazines, costumes, other items used for the girls projects & for props for my films. we buy in bulk & package things in bags & freeze as much as possible. we are not yet debt free, mostly due to medical bills...even with medical insurance, the expenses are terrible. Anyway, we will soon be making that "debt free" call. "picket-hall" if u have direct tv, u can catch dave nightly on the fox financial channel! otherwise u can catch him on am radio nightly, check for local listings & he has a website...daveramsey.com...another tip "Cole" start out the week with an amount of cash & a name assigned to every cent...when it's gone...don't spend another dime. it's hard, but it was so helpful in the past month. my hubby spent a week in the hospital & took no pay to have vacation days left over for the holidays. we were breathing easy because we had saved for a rainy day...essential! only regret...didnt start this sooner--best to all

We started it last year right before school started. Our truck that we owed $10,000 on it this time last year is now paid off. We paid it off last month. Now we are working on mine SUV. I hope to have it paid off by this time next year. It works if you really stick to it. The key is to buy what you need not what you want!!!

My wife and I are just now starting Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University through my wife's workplace, O'Neal Steel, Inc. We just completed week 3 and I have just completed my first monthly cash flow plan. Wish us luck cause we have a long way to go! I would appreciate any words of advice or encouragement from any members of this group that Drew Ammons created. Thanks.
