Hueytown High School

Alright, since we have a few younger people on here or that will be on, let's give our favorite Stunt Night memories. If I'm not mistaken, my senior year, 1978, was the last year for Stunt Nights. I have no idea what we did, and if I did, I wouldn't tell. Anyway, some of these young ones on here have only heard of Stunt Night, so it's up to us "old ones" to tell them. Get on here and give your fondest memories of Stunt Night.

I'm not really sure what year the last stunt night was. We didn't have one when I was at HHS. I'm class of 82. Share your memories. I'd love to hear them.

Those were the days. What a Blast, working on stunt night, working on Veteran's Day floats, Tri-Hi-Y projects for homecoming, Vaudeville shows. We had it made and didn't have sense enough to know it LOL!! I remember stunt night very well. Chick helped us write our scripts every year and it was a real production. We even had a guy named John who was a choreographer come in to choreograph our dances. One of the dances I was in, we were dressed like mobsters and we danced with a chair. Sounds silly writing it, but it was really a great production!! The Class of '77 tied with the seniors our first year -- and I can't remember if we tied or won our junior year, but I know we won our senior year. What fun!! I have great memories from HHS. Thanks again, Eddie, for this website where we can relive some of the best years of our lives.

I can remember The Magical Mystery Tour.I think it was our senior year, and I was working one of the spotlights on the finale where everyone was dancing with the small hand-held mirrors. The reflection off those mirrors had me seeing dots for an hour.

I think you're right Eddie. I was a sophomore in 1978 and that was the last year for Stunt Night. It was sooo much fun!!

I thought they had revived it during the late 80's or 90's under a different name. I just remember how silly the Jr class program was that year and that it seemed to be very competitive. If it really has been 30 years, it should definitely be revived. The problem as I recall was that there seemed to be a bias in the assignment of faculty to classes.

I remember hiding our empty beer bottles in the drop ceiling in the dressing room. Hum.... wonder if anybody found them.

There is/was nothing that can compare to Stunt Night!!!!!!

I thought the guy from Orlando's name was Joe... by the way, has anyone seen my teeth? And are the boys really back in town? What about Oliver Williams?

Okay. Well, we had John, who taught us the chair dance, to "All That Jazz". I finally remembered the song we did the dance to. You know, the mind is a terrible thing to lose. LOL!! I am not sure who Joe was. Oh, well, John, Joe, it was fun!!

Stunt Night was so much fun and Eddie I believe your right, it was all over after '78. That was my sophmore year and we actually won. We were all pretty sad to see it go. But that does bring back some great memories.

The last Stunt Night was in 1978. I can attest to this and that there was a three-way tie, orchestrated by Pat Salamone. This brought an unhappy end to it all and I escaped through the "tunnel" to the upper gym when the riot broke out. JDH.
AS A STUDENT, I LOVED STUNT NIGHT. AS SOPHS, NO ONE EVER KNEW WHAT TO DO SO IT WAS A FARCE. IT WAS CUT-THROAT BETWEEN JR & SR. FOR 2-3 WEEKS WE DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING EXCEPT BUILD SETS AND PRACTICE, PRACTICE. TERRY CALE (c/o 66) WROTE OUR SCRIPT EACH YEAR, THEY HAD TO BE ORIGINAL IN THE '60S. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT IT WOULD BE LIKE NOW. PLUS WE HAVE THE GRAD EXAM, STATE MANDATED, IN MAR. THAT WOULD BE TERRIBLE. NOW I SEE IT FROM BOTH SIDES!!!!! lsh
